Duncan E Z Stroke Translucent Underglazes

E Z Stroke Translucent Underglazes have become popular for their versatility. The intense pigment in E Z Strokes colors allows you to achieve high definition and decoration in any project. And their translucent quality makes them suitable for use with a number of decorating techniques, including airbrushing, antiquing and brushwork. Similar to watercolor, a single layer of color is all you need for most design work. Additional layers may be added for shading and depth.


Tips and Techniques


  • E Z Strokes may be applied over most underglazes, induding Cover-Coat and other E Z colors. Their transparency allows base color to show through.
  • E Z Strokes work well with low and hight fire, up to a cone 5-6 and some cone 10.
  • As high fire results vary, we recommend firing a test piece.
  • For majolica, apply E Z Strokes design work over unfired White Satin Glaze.
  • Pure and pigment based E Z Strokes can be used just like watercolors, alone or intermixed in layers of translucent, bold, pure color.
  • E Z Strokes are fragile when unfired. When the water dries out of the pigment, there a no binders holding it in place until it is fired.
  • Use E Z Strokes to tint clay slip, most glazes, fired snow and other E Z Strokes colors.
  • High definition and detail can be achieved by adding water to E Z Strokes color and using a very fine brush.


    • Note: E Z Strokes are food safe when properly covered with a Duncan lead-free clear glaze.
